The department has well established individual laboraties for mycology, virology, immunology, parasitology and PG research lab. Each lab is being established with hitech instruments and equipments including laminar flow, ELISA testing, research microscope and many more. Its has a very well set museum with hundreds of microbes prepared under museum technique for study purpose. The specimen in the museum includes parasites, worms, venomous insects and more. Museum is open to students during college hours where they can access for better understanding of structure of parasites and microbes. Also the research laboratories are accessible by postgraduates for their research purpose. The department has registered guides for pursuing research under the affiliated University. The faculties in the department are student friendly who always seems to engage in teaching. There is a separate session for slow learner apart from regular teaching. In this there will be a modified teaching methodology where the slow learners are allowed to come out with their questions and doubts and faculties will be helping them to clear out. The main focus of teaching in the department in on application of subject knowledge with the clinical findings with patients. It is emphasized that unless the learners know the root cause of the symptoms, it will be difficult to come to a conclusion to diagnose a disease and where the microbiology knowledge plays a major role in understanding infectious diseases when they go to General medicine department where they will be consulting many patients with varied symptoms. Molecular Microbiology provides an interface between academic molecular biology and real world applications in human health care and environment. Modern molecular microbiology is already an exciting reality. The faculty of the Department of Microbiology have interest in research and expertise that covers all aspects of the interactions of micro-organisms with humans, animals and the environment, ranging from the molecular basis of diseases and antibiotics to commercial enzymes, from immunobiology and cancer to pollutant biodegradation and environmental remediation from life at 100°C at the bottom of the ocean to photosynthesis from fermentation and food protection to the waste treatment
To render quality health care delivery with proper diagnosis of disease using the symptoms seen in patients and make them understand about infectious diseases and their causes.
To train the students in better way to diagnose a disease with clinical symptoms with the correlation of subject knowledge. Also to motivate the students towards research.
