Department of Pulmonary Medicine

The Department of Chest&TB was evolved in the year 2009 in the ground floor of the hospital building with one OPD and IP. It initially started with treating patients come with respiratory distress, asthma and allergic diseases. Gradually it developed into a center for RNTCP and DOTS treating nearly about 100-120 patients per year. It has a well developed OPD with latest equipments and instruments to render best medical care to the poor people. Also it has a counselling unit to counsel the patients coming with TB . The department works as a team in rendering training the students of final year & Interns and imculcate the service mentality among students. The departments works to deliver quality health care to the society and also in conjoin with Instiuttion's motto in producing competent medical doctors.

To get acquainted with common respiratory disorders.

Mission

To treat the patients of pul T.B as per RNTCP guidelines. To Provide Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation in respiratory diseases wherever needed.

To educate the patients about the illness.

To encourage the patients about the healthy life and emphasis on smoking cessation.

Teaching Objectives
  • To learn about the clinical diagnosis, history, complications of various pulmonary disorders.
  • To make aware of Revised National Tuberculosis Control Program.
  • To make aware of importance of pulmonary disorders like bronchial asthma, COPD, Pneumonia, in relation to clinical factors.
  • To imbibe and teach basics of X-ray readings.
  • To make understand about the evaluation of pulmonary function test in respiratory disorders.
  • To learn about simple techniques like pleural aspiration.
